However, instead of using the early morning urine, the recommended time to test the LH level is started from 10 am.
A luteinizing hormone, also known as lutrophin, is a hormone produced by gonadotroph cells in the anterior pituitary gland. The acute rise of LH in females triggers the ovulation. It is one of the fertility awareness that signal the process of egg to release from ovary.  If you plan to conceive, it is important to test the LH level rising. The simple way to detect the surge is using ovutest test strip. Here are the steps to do the home ovulation test yourself:

  • Avoid touching the rim of the container to your genital area. Get away the foreign matter in the urine sample.
  • Finish urinating into the toilet.
During the menstrual cycle, the LH is produced in small around. It will dramatically increase as the sign of ovulation is about to occur. It is the time when you are most fertile, having wide probability to conceive after the intercourse. Make sure you never miss to keep a record of the menstrual cycle along with the fertility awareness signals. Track the changes in body basal temperature, cervical mucus and luteinizing hormone level. The ovulation averagely will occur five days after you get the positive result of LH surge. Take blood test if it is necessary at your doctor.
