Testing Cervical Mucus to Predict the Ovulation

A family won’t be complete without the presence of children. If you have just married, you may have start thinking when to conceive a baby. Though pregnancy can just happen accidently without your knowledge, it is much better to have a plan. Many things will change once you have a baby. You should get everything well prepared.
You can take a comprehensive counseling with the plan to have a baby. Or you simply look for any related information about pregnancy. One of the essential things to learn is the ovulation. It is the time when mature egg is released by ovary. It will wait for the sperm to fertilize that leads to conception. But ovulation time on one woman to another is different. You should check yourself. Just like home pregnancy test kit, you can use the similar tool called ovulation test strip to check the LH surge on your urine. At the same time, you are also recommended to track the basal body temperature changes. To ensure about the fertile window, you can test the cervical mucus manually. But you must feel comfortable with this method. Here are some possible textures of the mucus to find that lead to the ovulation:
  • Sticky or scant – the time has not come yet.
  • Creamy – it is about to come.
  • Wet, watery and slightly stretchy – it is very likely close. Find time to have more intense intercourse.
  • Very wet, stretching for an inch or more between fingers and resembling raw egg white – it is your most fertile time when it is the ideal moment to have intercourse. The ovulation is right on the corner.
It is important to wash your hands before checking the cervical mucus. If you feel uncomfortable to reach inside your vagina, you can look for the sample on the underwear or toilet paper. However, using an ovutest test strip to check the urine seems to be much easier.
