Common Ovulation Induction Medications

Do you find yourself difficult to ovulate or have irregular periods that make you not able to conceive yet? Ovulation is an essential key to open the door of conception. However, there are problems that affect the probability to conceive on women. The problem may actually happen on the ovulation.
One of the common problems faced by women is anovulation. It is a condition of irregular eggs production. Doctors usually relate this matter to the irregular menstrual cycle. You find yourself passing through the menstruations normally but you did not get the signs of ovulation even if you had used various methods including ovulation test strip. In this condition, your ovary may not produce or fail to release the mature egg. Your doctor is possibly going to recommend you taking ovulation inducing. It is a hormonal treatment used to stimulate the egg development and release. The main goal is increasing the chance of pregnancy. In this treatment, doctors usually prescribe fertility medications which are commonly as follows:
  • Clomiphene Citrate (Clomid, Serophone) – tablet form medication that is usually given to women with irregular or long menstrual cycles.
  • Gonadotropins (Repronex, Bravelle, Follistim, Pergonal and GonalF) – injected form medication that is used to induce the egg release (ovulation) once the follicles are developed and the eggs are mature.
  • Glucophage (Metformin) – given as insulin lowering drug that reverses the endocrine abnormalities seen with PCOS within two or three months.
  • Parlodel – oral form medication taken with meals that is used to lower prolactin levels as well as pituitary tumor size.
Although you can easily get the fertility mediations at the local drugstores, it is much more recommended to see the medical expert. You will also be suggested to keep testing the ovulation after taking the treatment as usual using OPK like ovutest test strip to check the progress.
